Job Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Risk

• Conduct and participate in all weekly toolbox meetings, daily pre-shift meetings and scheduled staff or contractual meetings as necessary
• Carry out incident investigations when required and ensure any damage or faults to equipment is reported and investigated thoroughly
• Ensure work area inspections are carried out in accordance with Macmahon requirements and any hazards rectified or barricaded, delineated and communicated to other work groups
• Ensure plant that has faulty critical components is not operated until faults are rectified
• Manage maintenance and rebuild practices as well as the condition of the workplace to company and industry standards

Technical/Operational

• Plan, implement and assist scheduled inspections and servicing of plant, site and equipment
• Identify parts and materials required for daily maintenance activities
• Organise dayshift operations to run efficiently and cost effectively
• Assist/support the Maintenance Supervisor with general duties as required
• Communicate clearly and keep the Supervisor aware of the state of equipment in the mine in particular with respect to potential problem areas and downtime
• Ensure manning levels and rosters are maintained, including managing rostered breaks to ensure subordinates time is allocated effectively
• Maintain records, equipment records and registers in accordance with Macmahon Business System (MBS)
• Ensure that all servicing and repairs are carried out to a high standard and in a timely manner to meet operational schedules
• Order replacement or spare parts as required and follow up
• Complete detailed diary, and handover notes to on coming shift
• Actively participate in daily planning meetings

Commercial/Financial

• Ensure plant and equipment is operated in a manner to prevent damage and abuse
• Performs duties in a cost effective manner

People Management

• Supervise maintenance personnel during shift
• Plan and allocate short term (daily) tasks to workgroup to achieve deadlines
• Ensure staff have optimum workloads available as well as hands-on training for safe and efficient performance

Team Contribution

• Embrace and support the maintenance department's planning strategy regarding work order management and defect elimination
• Step up position into Supervisor’s role when required
• Ensure training is properly executed and documented to Macmahon Contractors standards and procedures
