Due to our expansion and upgrades we are seeking an experienced Leading Hand Fitter to join our maintenance team.

King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion, KOTH now features a 5.2 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant, providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future.  KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia. 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Leading Hand Fitter will be responsible for taking a leading role in providing mechanical maintenance across the operation, including in the plant, site infrastructure and village. You will lead by example in displaying a strong safety-focus and collaborative approach, ensuring that plant equipment is always maintained at a high level of availability.  

This position will be offered on a 15:13 dayshift, with rotational rostered swings of 14:14 nightshift 3-6 times a year.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Ensure that plant and equipment is maintained and operated as per regulation and is in a safe working condition. 
  • Assist with mentoring apprentices and junior fitters. 
  • Assist with allocating work tasks to ensure maintenance priorities are met. 
  • Communicate job progress and any delays promptly to the Maintenance Supervisor. 
  • Ensure Purchase Orders are raised to maintain stock required. 
  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner, and in accordance with Job Procedures and JHA's
  • Be proactive in continuously improving standards and strategies
  • Provide relief coverage for the Maintenance Supervisor where required

About You 

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification 
  • 5 years + Mine site experience post-trade qualification
  • Previous fixed plant maintenance experience, with strong knowledge and understanding of all sections of a Gold Processing Plant. 
  • Microsoft Office suite and computer-based maintenance systems experience (Pronto preferred)
  • Hold a current "C Class" WA Driver's Licence
  • Senior First Aid, High-risk licenses, Forklift, basic Rigging and Dogging tickets will be highly desirable
  • Schedule 26 qualification or ability to obtain (highly desirable, not essential)
