Work Location: Cloudbreak – Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 7D/7N/14R – FIFO ex Perth, Busselton, Broome, Karratha, Port Hedland, Fitzroy Crossing and Kununurra.
Cloudbreak is seeking a Leading Hand Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitter to provide frontline leadership and technical expertise across the Ore Processing Facility (OPF). Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for coordinating safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities, supporting team development, and ensuring plant reliability targets are achieved across crushing, conveying, screening and processing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily fixed plant maintenance activities.
- Provide visible safety leadership and field supervision.
- Execute planned and breakdown maintenance on OPF assets.
- Mentor and develop Fixed Plant Fitters and apprentices.
- Ensure work is completed to schedule and quality standards.
- Drive equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support shutdown planning and execution activities.
- Maintain compliance with Fortescue procedures and statutory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Australian recognised Mechanical Fitter trade qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in fixed plant maintenance leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of crushers, conveyors, screens and processing equipment.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a high-production mining environment.
- Experience with SAP, maintenance planning and work management systems.
- Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis capability.
- Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor appointment or ability to obtain.
- Excellent communication, safety leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
