Leading Hand - Maintenance

Reporting to the Crew Supervisor, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The Leading Hand – Mechanical is responsible for supporting the Maintenance team with ensuring reliable mechanical systems are in place on site to allow for maximum machine availability and safety across site. You will develop a high degree of proficiency and working knowledge of Yarrabee’s plant and equipment; more over you must be able to perform service and repairs with minimal supervision from the Crew Supervisor.

Roster: 7/7; Day/Night; 12 hour shifts

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Leading Hand - Maintenance to join our dynamic team!

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supervisor, you will be part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to:

  • Promote and maintain compliance with the Safety & Health and Environmental Management Systems and associated legislative requirements
  • Coordinate the team's daily workload - plan and organise work to meet team goals, determine and communicate priorities for the shift
  • Oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing and repairs on plant and equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with plant and equipment
  • Carry out quality control and audits on completed maintenance
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance practices
  • Carry out pre-start meetings
  • Provide crew members with performance feedback and assist with reward and recognition or performance management measures when required
  • Identify training and development requirements and provide opportunities for employees to improve their skills and knowledge

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position you will hold the below qualifications & experience;

  • Relevant diesel fitter / heavy vehicle trade qualifications
  • Sound communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, word processing and spread sheeting
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge and good fault finding skills on heavy mining equipment
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritise work load
  • Ability to exercise initiative and work both independently and co-operatively as required
  • Skilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues
  • Previous experience in the maintenance of plant and machinery within a mining or heavy industry environment
  • Proven previous experience with fault finding on heavy mining equipment
  • Excavator and field breakdown experience
  • Applicable Coal Competencies
  • Current Standard 11 Mine Induction (Surface)
  • Current Queensland Driver’s licence
