Red 5 is an established and successful ASX 200 gold producer and explorer in an active expansion phase. The recent merger of equals with Silver Lake Resources has created a leading mid-tier ASX Gold producer, with three operating centres in Western Australia, and one Canadian operation.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for an experienced and driven Legal Counsel to join our small legal team on a full-time basis.  Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, you will work directly with senior management and operational personnel to provide advice and legal assistance on a broad range of matters across our operations, as well as our Corporate office.  

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Preparation, negotiation and review of commercial contracts
  • Providing strategic and commercially astute advice in relation to the administration and enforcement of contracts and the application of relevant legislation
  • Providing legal support across a diverse range of areas including projects,  native title and heritage, work health and safety, permitting, employment, and general compliance matters
  • Advising on tenure related matters, assisting with access agreement preparation and management of Warden’s Court proceedings,
  • Liaison with external parties including insurance brokers, tenement managers and external law firms
  • Identification and analysis of developments in the law that affect the business and making recommendations for appropriate action
  • Assisting with management of disputes and matters of a litigious nature

ABOUT YOU:

You are an experienced and driven legal professional with a developed understanding of all facets of commercial contracts and mining related legislation. Your developed interpersonal skills will facilitate productive and influential relationships with your internal stakeholders, and your ability to effectively prioritise will allow you to juggle multiple demands on your time.

You can demonstrate that you have:

  • An Australian practicing certificate
  • Between 4 and 7 years’ post-admission experience gained in a top or mid-tier law firm or from an in-house role
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Previous experience in mining and resources law or previous exposure to the mining industry
  • Self-driven with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of managing multiple matters, competing deadlines and prioritising effectively

This permanent full-time role is based in the South Perth corporate office on a Monday to Friday basis. Occasional site travel will be required to allow you to develop a good understanding of each of our operating centres and their individual challenges. An attractive annual salary will be offered to attract an exceptional performer.
