Olympic Dam is one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold, and uranium. Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is a part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.
About the Role
Please note listed positions are based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 (day/night) roster pattern arrangement, with residential, FIFO (Adelaide) or DIDO (on location options available.
We are pleased to offer positions for several talented Light Vehicle Mechanic due to ongoing growth in the Copper SA Portfolio.
You will be warmly welcomed by your team, your leader and methodically and correctly inducted and trained into your respective teams safely, and we will ensure you establish a true home away from home bond with your commitment to our team and your career with BHP.
Working in our surface workshop you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and diagnostics of the Toyota Landcruiser fleet. Still current. (please check this, is it even still current – Lacking serious info on the department in general)
You will be responsible for basic maintenance on land cruisers including:
- Carrying out inspections according to documented maintenance procedures and instructions
- Undertaking housekeeping as required
- Participating in safe start and other operational meetings as required
- Having a willingness to undertake training as required
- Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of ability without being supervised.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way
- Demonstrating a focus on safety, achievement and team engagement in all aspects of work
- Follow specific maintenance programs and procedures and carrying out checks on equipment as required.
- Ensure accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required.
About You
- Proven experience with the maintenance of light vehicles
- Relevant Trade Qualification - Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Experience with Toyota Landcruiser would be advantageous
- Keen to learn, a willingness of self-improvement and ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure
- Automotive air conditioning ticket Desirable
- Australian Drivers Licence
- Commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail
- Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, be self-motivated and show passion toward the equipment within the department
- Ensure adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the planning process
