What your day would look like:
Overhauling & maintaining various types of large open cut & underground mining equipment, including Caterpillar & Komatsu haul trucks, track dozers, graders, front end loaders and excavator
Onsite line boring operations and surface milling procedures on all makes and models of open cut mining & underground equipment;
Possess the ability to provide 'bore surveys and condition reports to 'bores and bushing';
Supply all portable milling operations both workshop and onsite;
Workshop based machining operations on a wide variety of earth moving components to tight tolerances (such as +/- .0005" in most cases) I.D bore welding and bore reclamation;
Use of liquid nitrogen to assemble and fit various components;
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals;
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including measurements, material usage, and time taken;
Inspect and assess damaged components and recommend suitable repair methods;
Work collaboratively with fitters, welders, engineers, and supervisors to plan and prioritise repairs
What we’ll need from you:
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in line boring and bore welding, ideally within the mining, construction, or heavy transport industries.
Trade-qualified in Mechanical Fitting, Boiler making, or equivalent (Certificate III or higher).
Strong machining skills with demonstrated ability in setting up and operating line boring equipment.
Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
Experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, verniers, dial indicators).
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Valid driver’s licence; ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screen.
Successful candidate's will be required to complete a pre-employment medical (including drug & alcohol screening) and provide a current National Police Check.
