About the role
We are recruiting for a Logistics Lead in our commercial logistics team. This role will monitor Rio Tinto APAC business & environment for requirements within warehousing and logistics markets, interpret possible impact of requirement change and develop/propose counteracting contracting responses to mitigate impacts to ongoing transport and off-site warehousing activities.
Reporting to the Manager Logistics Strategy & Sourcing, you will be:
- Contract logistics services, manage commercial and operational relationships with service providers handling/transporting Rio Tinto products to assure continuity of business operations and associated risks are identified and mitigated
- Contribute to the development of the APAC contracting prioritisation inline with Logistics functional strategy
- Ensures execution of improvement initiatives to reach and exceed business plans
- Monitors internal business environment, logistics and shipping markets, interprets possible impact of change on the business and develop/propose response strategies.
- Champions Commercial Logistics HSEC, Standards and commercial contracting management activities across the region and engages proactively with peers in other regions for Global Alignment where necessary
- Prepare supporting strategy business cases to obtain internal stakeholder approval to confirm alignment and support for the prioritisation and execution of logistics contracts
What you will need for the role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business or related field
- At least 8 years of related experience across supply chain, supply & demand planning in particular with trade or capacity management experience in container liner shipping industry being advantage
- Technical and analytical exposure related to logistics and supply chain activities at a Country or Regional level of accountability
- Demonstrated ability to perform high level analytical complexity and distil insight to senior stakeholders
- Leading, developing and engaging a team of diverse and global professionals across multiple regions
- Collaborating and influencing large groups of cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to drive adoption and efficient use of digital solutions to manage logistics flows
- Proficient in Excel, Power BI, SAPexperience preferred
