About the Role

In this dynamic Logistics Specialist role you will be a key interface between Nickel West site operations, our Logistics Service Providers and our Marketing Team.  This is a Perth based role, working with a team of professionals who directly report to and support the Superintendent Logistics (Integrated Operations).  This diverse role requires you to work an 8 days on / 6 days off or 9/5 roster arrangement and will involve ad-hoc travel to site.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support Superintendent Logistics to manage the demand profile for all logistics movements, developing appropriate logistics schedules to meet demand and communicating these requirements to our logistics service providers, ensuring that product stockpiles are maintained at required levels to support production targets and delivering Saleable product to our Marketing Team and External Customers
  • Managing the competing demands for logistics services between multiple sites to achieve efficient, safe and cost-effective outcomes for the business
  • Actioning Customs Clearance and export regulatory requirements associated with both Bulk and Containerised exports (training can be provided in this area)
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to prevent risks and/or mitigate repeating issues, including understanding of and improving existing processes.
  • Understand multiple constrains and assist Superintended Logistic to manage trade-offs in each segment of our logistics chain, with objective to achieve the optimal outcome, gaining a strong understanding of the Logistics Services Contracts and ensure NiW achieves the most value possible for the services provided.
  • Administrative tasks related to Logistics Activities (reporting, documentation, cost verifications and approvals for Purchase Requisitions / Purchase Orders).

About You

You will have a strong background or acumen in Logistics and or Supply Chain management.  You will have a mindset of problem solving and personal interest to drive continual improvement and an eye for detail.  You will be someone who enjoys a dynamic supply chain environment and is confident liaising with different stakeholders (internal / external). 

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant STEM, Logistics or Supply Chain degree is desired, or demonstrated well rounded experience within a dynamic Logistic Environment
  • You will receive training and supervision, but you will also pursue the ability to work autonomously with high levels of ambiguity
  • Proactive with strong sense of urgency and a passion for continuous improvement – you have a mindset of changing the status quo and achieving operational excellence (with strong attention to detail)
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to manage a wide range of stakeholders spanning the supply chain of an operation, as well as external parties
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment calmly and professionally
  • Previous experience in logistics, bulk haulage, planning/scheduling within the mining industry is also advantageous
  • Experience with SAP would be beneficial
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft applications (including Excel) and confident using Data ((role will require Data Analysis associated with stock levels and inventory reconciliation, for sound decision making)
  • Experience with Mining applications is also advantageous
