About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Auxiliary Maintenance, this role will be responsible for managing a Light Vehicle team who undertake maintenance of a wide variety of auxiliary assets across both our Mining Area C and South Flank operations. 

Working an 8 days on, 6 nights on and 7 days off roster, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our maintenance strategies, communicate the changes to the team, supervise the execution of the daily work schedule and provide feedback on what worked well and the potential opportunities for improvement using the BHP Operating System known as BOS.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations namely with Section 44.
  • Create a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Identifying, building and developing team capability through ongoing and regular coaching and development
  • Prioritising the execution of work based on condition of risk of equipment to prevent unplanned failures and supervise the execution of the weekly work schedule
  • Planning and scheduling break in work based on risk of equipment failure within a 7 day period and criticality of the equipment across the operation
  • Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives with support from our site Reliability team
  • Allocating resources to achieve optimal maintenance outcomes as part of work activity planning
  • Supporting continued development and mentorship to your team and ensure competency of individual maintainers in the safe performance of their duties

Area C

Our Mining Area C site is located approximately 120kms North West of Newman, West Australia.  The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player.  All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.

About You

To be successful in this role it is likely that you will offer:

  • Trade Certificate (desirable but not essential)
  • Applicants with a diploma or degree level of qualification or proven people management experience
  • Supervisory experience or Step Up Supervisory experience
  • Systems knowledge of maintenance processes (e.g. Work management, reliability, information management, cost control, 1SAP and budgeting processes)
  • Customer and quality focused with a drive to achieve results for the team
  • Ability to balance multiple incoming priorities and effectively deliver on customer expectations
