LV Mechanic

About the role:  We are currently seeking a Light Vehicle Mechanic to join us at our Wilpinjong mine.  Our Wilpinjong mine is an open-cut mine located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high quality thermal coal for export with long term contracts for the domestic market.  Wilpinjong is a multi-seam operation utilising truck / excavator and dozer push methods and is currently mining >14mtpa ROM coal. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the scope of your role will be to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on light vehicles performed in a safe, efficient, effective and timely   Duties will include:

• Compliance with site Safety and Health Management system requirements (including risk management, SOP’s, permits, work instructions etc.).
• Prioritise and undertake specified and/or general work to the required standard and within timeframes
• Maintain a safe, clean and healthy work environment.
• Minimise production downtime.
• Participate in shift change, site meetings, communications or reporting requirements to the required standard.
• Actively engage in the in the Peabody Continuous Improvement Program.  

About you: The successful candidate will hold a recognized trade qualifications as a mechanical fitter or motor mechanic and have experience in an open cut mining maintenance environment.

You will also have:

• Trade qualifications as a mechanical fitter or motor mechanic
• Current Drivers Licence
• Knowledge of open cut coal mining equipment and associated equipment (desirable)
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and safety procedures in open cut mining (desirable)
