George Fisher Mine are currently seeking a skilled and experience Magazine Keeper to join the Drill and Blast Team. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa, on a 7/7 continuous shift work roster, and reports directly to the Drill and Blast Shift Supervisor.

The Role

The ideal candidate will be in charge of the Underground Explosives Magazine and ensure the safe and secure storage of the explosives. This role will include receiving and issuing explosives and accurately maintaining explosive record books. An attention of detail will be needed to maintain, manage and order explosive stock. You must be able to work in an autonomous environment, however still communicating relevant details to the various stakeholders.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Computer knowledge, in programs such as SAP for ordering stock and
• Microsoft Suite such as Excel for managing stock and usage spreadsheets
• Strong focus on correct record keeping.
• Perform Risk Assessments / SLAM during course of duties
• Participate in shift change-over and pass on relevant information
• Strong focus on completing the job safely, efficiently and to a high standard

The successful candidate will possess:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a mining/underground operation and previous experience working with explosives
• It will be essential to hold/or be able to obtain statutory requirements which will be required to store, handle, transport and use explosives
• Current Australian Drivers Licence
• Hard working, reliable and able to work unsupervised
• Excellent communication including written record keeping
• Excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills
• Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
• Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Willingness and ability to learn new processes
