We are looking for a trade qualified Electrical Maintainer to join our Asset Management team at Bell Bay Aluminium - Tasmania. Our Team is flexible and dynamic, with planned maintenance works on our fixed plant assets being our major focus.

Working a 4x dayshift Roster Monday to Thursday, this will give you the opportunity to balance your work and other commitments to spend time on the things that are important to you.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor you will be joining our Metal Products and Carbon Maintenance teams. Your role may involve;

  • Maintaining and replacing electrical equipment including Gas & electric blast furnaces, and casting machines.
  • Planned maintenance including PLC, Instrumentation, limit drives and other plant equipment.
  • Some limited mobile plant maintenance including Autonomous Forklift equipment.
  • Execution of planned and unplanned breakdown maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting, calibrating, repair and service of fixed plant electrical assets.
  • Working autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team, understanding the requirement to maintain assets in a safe and reliable condition.

What you’ll bring

Previous experience working within an industrial environment is highly regarded. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
  • Valid C Class drivers licence
  • An Australian 'A' grade Electrical licence
  • Instrumentation Certificate advantageous
  • Working at Heights/EWP desirable
  • Experienced in planned maintenance including PLC, Instrumentation and other plant equipment
  • Proven history of fault finding and repairs on various electrical equipment
  • Proven maintenance experience working in heavy/industrial industry

Our Bell Bay Aluminium smelter began operating in 1955 and holds a unique place in Tasmanian and Australian history as the first aluminium smelter in the Southern Hemisphere. Based approximately 50 kilometres from Launceston in Northern Tasmania, the smelter produces primary aluminium products.
