About The Role
Join our inclusive Utilities team at Paraburdoo. We have an opportunity for an Operator Maintainer Technical (Mechanical) to join Paraburdoo Power Station within the Utilities West Pilbara Team. The Power Station is one of our four Rio Tinto Gas Turbine Power Stations in the Pilbara region, supplying power to the Mining, Port, and residential assets across the whole Pilbara region. This role reports to the Generation Supervisor, Utilities on an 8/6 roster (residential or FIFO).
Reporting to the Generation Supervisor, you will
Promote a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and ensuring team well-being.
Foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and teamwork within the workplace.
Monitor, inspect, and report on the condition of power station assets, performing scheduled maintenance, breakdown repairs, and major overhauls as required.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
Operation of the Paraburdoo Power Station assets
Update maintenance system data (SAP)
Conduct Job Hazard Assessments, Take 5s, and Critical Risk Management procedures to identify and control risks.
Work with and maintain various power generation systems, including:
GE LM6000PC Aero-Derivative Gas Turbines & Generators
RO Water Treatment Systems
Site Instrument Air Systems
Gas Fuel Systems
Reciprocating Diesel Generating Sets
What You’ll Bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
A Mechanical Engineering Trade Certificate
C Class Driver’s License
Preferably 2 years of experience in operations and maintenance of LM6000 gas turbines or similar aero-derivative turbines.
Ability to interpret GE GEK manuals and read P&IDs for troubleshooting and maintenance.
RO plant maintenance and operation experience
Understanding of RTIO HSEQ safety systems
High-Risk Work License in LF, WP, RG
Type “B” Gas Appliance certification (Supervising or Supervised Gas Fitter).
light fabrication and machining, including lathe and milling work
Proficiency in SAP for maintenance tracking and asset management.
Strong competency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
Basic understanding of PLCs and DCSs for system monitoring and troubleshooting.

This role will be offered either residential or FIFO from Perth, where you will work at our Paraburdoo mining operations on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster.Located 80km southwest of Tom Price, Paraburdoo is a town nestled in some of the most scenic landscape in Western Australia.
