About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the purpose of the role is to manage the Daunia Mine annual budgeting, cost estimating, tracking actuals and forecasting. The successful candidate will ensure all costs are tracked and reported, monthly forecasts are done accurately and POs, invoices etc. are verified and validated. This role is based at Daunia Mine, Central Queensland on a 4 on, 3 off, Monday to Thursday roster. This role is being offered as a residential, FIFO or DIDO role with flexible working arrangements available.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the planning processes, including setting cost targets, communicating assumptions, co-ordinating budget preparation (capital and maintenance), implementing process improvements, challenging submissions and seeing synergies upon consolidation.
  • Supporting delivery of the annual budgeting cycle & monthly forecasting.
  • Implementing and maintaining estimation and budgeting tools, metrics and best practices to support consistency in execution of work across the maintenance.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders for input to the budget development, including budget estimating.
  • Overseeing cost tracking to assist line leaders in managing spend, including month-end close processes to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Providing analysis to support decision making including presenting economic outcomes, identifying the key value drivers, benefits, sensitivities and risk, accounting and financial outcomes.
  • Preparing and analysing problems using sensitivities and other techniques; review variance analysis and account reconciliations and identify significant items requiring the attention of line leaders.

To be successful in this role you will need to have excellent communication skills and an ability to interact with various stakeholders of different levels. You will need to be able to work in an inclusive and diverse workplace and have a strong safety mindset.

You will have proven analytical skills with demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.

In addition, we will be looking for candidates with the following skills:

  • Highly proficient in excel spreadsheets, financial reporting and cost modelling
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, outlook and word
  • Experience in project management and governance
  • Ability to summarise and communicate complex data quickly and in a simple format
  • Ability to problem solve and action outcomes quickly
  • Ability to coach, develop and upskill team members
  • General understanding of Maintenance strategies and lifecycle costs (Desirable but not essential)
