We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer, Conveyors to join our team to provide technical expertise and support on conveyor systems across Cape Lambert A (CLA) and Cape Lambert B (CLB) ports.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to draw on your technical knowledge in an operational environment. It offers a diverse work profile, which includes assisting the maintenance, operations and belts teams with breakdown support; defect elimination; investigations; and improvement projects related to conveyors across site.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will:

  • Provide conveyor-related technical support to the operations, maintenance and belts teams
  • Provide infield advice on conveyor setup and providing secondary QA/QC functions
  • Develop and review metrics related to conveyor reliability
  • Document belt improvements and look to replicate across other conveyor assets to improve safety and reliability
  • Facilitate and assist in investigations for conveyor related failures as an SME, and coordinate remedial actions to address the root cause
  • Be a liaison between the central engineering, belts and site teams
  • Collaborate with the central conveyors team to ensure high quality investigations and projects

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A Tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • A Current "C Class" WA Driver’s licence
  • Industry experience in bulk material handling
  • Exposure to conveyor modelling software and design
  • Familiarity with equipment failure investigation (5 Whys, RCA)
  • A strong focus towards safety and safe work practices
  • Ability to progress multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of the SAP system in a maintenance environment 
  • An ability to convert technical knowledge into practical instruction
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including good oral and written skills

Where you will be working

Located 50km east of Karratha, the Cape Lambert port facilities consist of 2 shipping terminals which form an essential part of our supply chain process.

This role is based at Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Cape Lambert port working 5/2/4/3 roster on a FIFO out of Perth or residential basis (Wickham or Karratha).
