About BHP Operations Services

BHP Operations Services delivers industry leading mining services across BHP operations Australia-wide with specialist capabilities in load and haul, fixed plant maintenance and mobile maintenance.

About the Roles

BHP is seeking motivated and safety-focused leaders to join our Operations Services team in various leadership positions, including Supervisor and Superintendent roles. These positions play a vital role in driving team performance, maintaining safety excellence, and supporting continuous improvement across our operations.

You’ll be based at one of our Queensland sites — Saraji, Caval Ridge, Goonyella Riverside, or Peak Downs — depending on operational requirements and your area of expertise.

  • Supervisor positions: 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster
  • Superintendent positions: 5 days on, 2 days off roster

As part of our leadership team, you’ll be responsible for supporting and empowering your team to deliver outstanding results while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high‑performing culture.

About You

You’re a people‑focused leader who thrives on mentoring and developing others. You value safety above all, communicate effectively, and build strong working relationships across all levels of the business. Your background in a similar operational or leadership environment will enable you to contribute meaningfully to our team’s success.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and support your team to achieve operational targets safely and efficiently
  • Foster a positive and productive culture built on trust, respect, and accountability
  • Promote and uphold BHP’s HSEC standards, including proactive hazard management
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve performance, processes, and systems
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to support continuous improvement and business outcomes
  • Drive asset reliability and operational efficiency through effective maintenance strategies
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to reach their full potential
  • Utilise systems such as SAP to plan, manage, and report on operational performance
  • A trade qualification or relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable, along with demonstrated leadership experience in mining, maintenance, or other heavy industry sectors.
