Maintenance Manager

About the role: 

Peabody Energy is seeking a high-calibre Maintenance Manager to join the team of professionals based at our Wilpinjong mine site. 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager is accountable for managing and leading the maintenance operations across the Wilpinjong mine site; providing effective leadership that is ethical and innovative to meet maintenance and organisational targets.

In this role you will be responsible for managing the surface mining plant and equipment in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve optimum levels of utilisation and availability to meet production targets.

Duties will include:

• Demonstrate a detailed understanding of relevant costs and spending analyses to achieve optimal outcomes for the mine
• Identify significant variances from budgeted costs & escalate issues and solutions to the General Manager
• Ensure that assets are managed effectively to achieve budget utilisation rates
• Assist in developing budget
• Contribute to the maintenance section of monthly reporting & cost review meetings
• Provide for mentorship, training and development supporting the Maintenance team, striving towards creating a high-performance work environment
• Ensure that adequate numbers of experienced and qualified professional staff and tradespeople are engaged to fulfil business requirements 

About you:

• Mechanical Trade (preferable Diesel Fitting) and/or appropriate Engineering degree
• 7 to 10 years appropriate experience, relevant to the requirements and seniority of the role
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to summarise data and provide recommendations
• Have exceptional people and leadership skills and a desire to improve and develop people and processes
• Ability to function as a senior leader both in the Maintenance Department as well as being a member of the site Senior Leadership Team

The Lifestyle:

Located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, our Wilpinjong mine produces high quality thermal coal for both the export and domestic markets, 45 minutes’ drive to and from Mudgee town for a residential lifestyle, home every night.

This is a permanent position based on a weekday roster (Monday to Friday) which enables employees to live in Mudgee or surrounding area.  A rostered-day-off is on offer once every month to assist with improving work-life balance.
