Join our team as a Maintenance Operations Supervisor, where you'll lead a team of Maintenance Tradespersons in executing maintenance activities while ensuring consistent application of asset management processes. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and safety of our assets.

Key Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Superintendent Logistics & Mech Support, the main responsibilities of the Supervisor Maintenance, will be managing and supervising trade employees in maintenance activities, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. You will allocate maintenance coverage for breakdowns and resolve on-the-job issues related to planned maintenance activities and shutdowns.Additionally, you'll monitor working practices and adherence to safety procedures to ensure the safety of employees working in the area 

What you’ll bring

  • Leadership: Ability to effectively lead and manage a team of Maintenance Tradespersons.Maintenance Management: Proficiency in overseeing maintenance activities and ensuring that asset management processes are consistently applied to maintain the reliability and safety of assets.
  • Asset Management Knowledge: Understanding of asset management principles and practices, including optimization, forecasting, lifecycle management, and risk mitigation.Safety Management: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by monitoring and enforcing adherence to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: Capacity to address on-the-job issues promptly and efficiently.Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication abilities to liaise with team members, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Planning and Organization: Skill in organizing maintenance schedules, allocating resources, and prioritizing tasks to meet operational requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Dedication to maintaining high standards and quality in all maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and longevity of assets.

Where you’ll be working  

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tons of bauxite. 

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.  

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape
