We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. 

Managed by Yancoal, Cameby Downs is a small open cut thermal coal mine in the Surat Basin in southern Queensland, between Chinchilla and Miles. We employ approximately 200 people, and aim to support our local communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor and Leading Hand, you will be part of a dynamic and motivated team in the Maintenance Department at Cameby Downs Mine.  The role is responsible for:

Short term - daily and weekly

  • Part and Component staging for all work orders - planned and unplanned
  • Assist in improving workshop labour utilisation - maximise tool time for fitters by ensuring parts, tooling and materials are available when required. 
  • Support for breakdown events and field pit fitter - parts, tooling and technical literature
  • Liaise with parts suppliers and freight companies to support procurement of all parts within the Maintenance Department
  • Maintenance Interface with CDM warehouse and procurement
  • End of job credits and returns - cores, parts and materials
  • Assist Leading Hand with ordering parts and track/escalate delivery to site
  • Manage block stock inventory
  • Assist with workshop tooling repairs 

Long term

  • Parts and component staging for shut down events - parts, components, literature and tooling
  • Tracking and management of CDM rotable components in conjunction with the Planners

Skills and Experience

  • Trade qualification and post trade experience in heavy machinery
  • Must have good communication skills & a proven ability to work well with others
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Be reliable and demonstrate a committed and productive attitude
