Maintenance Planner/Scheduler – Energy Operations

Work Location: Perth/Various sites across Pilbara. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Fortescue Centre/Bennett Street and Site

Roster: 5/2 Perth (Monday to Friday), 4/3 Site based

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the effective development, management, and scheduling of weekly/major maintenance. This position reports directly to the Senior Planner and works closely with the site based maintenance teams on a 5/2, 4/3 rotational roster. The energy operation team manage multiple generation and transmission assets across the WA Pilbara operations.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with relevant legislation and requirements and to achieve Energy Operations maintenance strategy
  • Plan and schedule approved work orders and tasks, to ensure zero harm, and utilise equipment and resources to produce effective weekly schedules based on the Energy Operations maintenance strategy and budget
  • Liaise with maintenance teams and contractors to ensure the efficient usage of available resources and equipment
  • Review weekly maintenance performance (KPI’s) and develop action plans to achieve targets and make improvements
  • Review and maintain the maintenance management system (SAP) to ensure that data collection and validation supports maintenance reporting requirements
  • Minimise costs through efficient planning of labour, resources, and service

Qualifications and skills required: 

  • Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification preferred
  • Significant experience in a maintenance capacity, plus at least 2 years in a planning role (preferably planning weekly maintenance/shutdowns)
  • Strong understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large-scale, power stations
  • Proven commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Ability to work with others to achieve objectives, team oriented, good verbal, written and computer skills
  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills & good planning and organisational skills
  • Knowledge and experience in computer maintenance management systems, e.g. SAP.
