About the role: We are currently accepting applications for the role of Maintenance Superintendent at our Wilpinjong Mine. Our Wilpinjong Mine is an open-cut mine located approximately 50 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will undertake specified and/or general project work as required.  You will enforce & maintain the maintenance techniques that ensure Peabody’s equipment is maintained to a high safety, productive & reliable standard, whilst implementing practices and processes to get the most out of your team.

Duties will include:

  • Demonstrate proactive safe leadership to all employees and contractors by promoting and enforcing use of JSEA’s, SOP’s, permits, work instructions and OEM manuals to conduct tasks
  • Maximise equipment availability through the effective execution of the maintenance plan
  • Communication and consultation across business departments e.g. planning requirements with operational departments, engineering delays and incident outcomes 
  • Proactively manage available labour resource against forecasted workload
  • Management of contractors including developing scopes of work
  • Identify and implement continuous (CI) improvement strategies targeting safety, reliability and cost saving
  • Ensure effective project management of major overhaul and repair equipment including planning, implementation and budgeting
  • Development, review and update of associated documentation of e.g. safe work procedures, maintenance work orders and value add inspections
  • Ensure equipment meets reliability expectations in line with business requirements
  • Ensure that the delegation of work under your control is clearly assigned to your subordinates
  • Clearly set expectations with crew members, monitor outputs and give proactive feedback on completion of tasks
  • Ensure machine health monitoring and assessment information is actioned to deliver machine and component life

About you:

  • Relevant Trades qualification Or Engineering Degree.
  • Proven experience in a similar role in an open cut environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to foster and maintain a positive safety culture
  • Extensive knowledge of effective planning and execution processes for mobile equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key components of this role as you will work with closely with a variety of stakeholders
  • Cost, contractor and project management experience
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, email (Microsoft Project, SAP and specific maintenance scheduling programs desirable)
  • Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (SAP experience is highly desirable)
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment condition monitoring practices
  • Strong business improvement and forecasting/budgeting skills
  • QMS1, QMS2, QMS3
