The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Deflector Processing and be integral to the success of the Processing Team by keeping the plant at optimal availability and reliability.

Reporting to the Processing Manager and overseeing an established team of Fitters, Boilermakers and Electricians, this role will be responsible for supervising the maintenance of the plant, borefields, site infrastructure and village. You will also focus on meeting budgetary objectives and provide feedback and guidance to senior management on maintenance issues.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Formulate, develop and implement effective maintenance strategies for the areas of responsibility, and relevant to the equipment maintained;
  • Maintain optimum output for the processing plant by ensuring effective Maintenance programs and breakdown response is achieved;
  • Review maintenance practices and optimise where appropriate;
  • Ensure Maintenance cost targets are met;
  • Preparation and presentation of Maintenance reports;
  • Implement maintenance schedules, and record maintenance activities accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Take an active role in short and long term planning of Maintenance activities, including Crushing circuit and Mill shutdowns;
  • Lead by example in demonstrating a hands-on approach to resolving maintenance issues. Allocating priority to work orders, in line with core business needs;
  • Coordinate and oversee the maintenance effort between the Mechanical, Electrical and Village maintenance sections of the Maintenance department;
  • Provide direct leadership and guidance to the Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical Supervisor and Leading Hand Fitters;
  • Develop close working relationships with supply personnel and production personnel;
  • Ensure all workshop facilities and equipment is maintained and in good working order.

 About You

We are looking for a proven leader within the Maintenance area, who can build and foster professional working relationships within a small team environment. You will be able to anticipate needs and react quickly to ensure all plant equipment is functional and manage multiple demands on your time.

Your wealth of knowledge and experience will allow you to bring a critical eye to existing processes and effectively communicate your direction to your team and management alike. You will have a proven track record influencing, mentoring and providing leadership to a small team, and have a practical approach to problem solving from the ground up.

As a minimum you will be supported by the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years previous site maintenance experience, including a minimum 4 years in a senior supervisory role;
  • Mechanical Trade Qualification;
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations and Classified Plant and Registered Plant legislation;
  • Excellent knowledge of crushing, ball milling, flotation and filtration circuits;
  • Demonstrated organisational, time management and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office/Project and experience in computer based maintenance systems (preferably Prono/SWM);
  • Cert IV in Frontline Management;
  • Hold a CN Franna ticket or higher;
  • Confined space, Working at Heights, EWP, Forklift, Rigging & Dogging tickets are essential;
  • Experience with pump and hydraulic system fault-finding will be highly regarded;
  • Hold a current C Class driver’s license and Senior First Aid Certificate; and
  • HR driver’s licence and High Risk licenses will be highly desirable.
