About the role 

This is a permanent full-time Day Shift role on a 7/7 roster residential on Groote Eylandt. FIFO from Darwin or Cairns will be considered. 

In this role you’ll facilitate scheduled and unplanned maintenance and repair tasks across GEMCO’s onsite water assets in line with all relevant statutory regulations and site standards. This includes underground and above ground services including sewage, potable and other water assets across the operation

Some of your main responsibilities will include: 

• Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on a broad range of water assets on Groote Eylandt to ensure the operational upkeep of the water and sewage distribution networks
• Complete planned and routine maintenance per schedule
• Respond to and rectify alarms generated by SCADA
• Work with consultants and contractors on upgrades, procurement, and breakdown troubleshooting
• Perform mechanical/plumbing breakdown activities in a safe and proficient manner
• Actively contribute to business improvement initiatives and feedback processes
• Assist with the training and development of apprentices through mentoring

About you

To be considered for the role, you will have:

Trade Certificate – Plumber, Fitter and Turner, or other relevant discipline

Previous experience in operation of Water / Wastewater / Sewage Treatment Plants

Cert III in Water Operations - desirable

Knowledge of operating Vacuum / Sullage Truck

A team player with good communication skills

C Class Drivers License
