ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on 8-day fortnight at our Worsley Alumina Refinery, which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.

The Major Shutdown Coordinator is a critical leadership role responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale shutdowns within the Calcination, Liquor Burner, and Energy assets. Reporting directly to South32 Major shutdown Superintendent, the Coordinator will also have supervisors as direct reports while overseeing a diverse team of contractors and ensuring efficient, safe, and timely project delivery during shutdown periods, typically involving a 60-hour workweek.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Supervision: Manage a large base of contractors and ensure alignment with project goals, safety standards, and South32 expectations.
• Shutdown Planning: Develop comprehensive shutdown schedules, resource allocation plans, and execution strategies to optimize asset downtime.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain stringent adherence to safety protocols, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance throughout the shutdown.
• Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the key liaison between South32 supervisors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and clear reporting.
• Performance Management: Monitor progress, address challenges, and implement solutions to maintain productivity and achieve milestones.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational improvements and integrate lessons learned into future shutdowns.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in managing complex industrial shutdowns.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to manage large contractor teams.
• Deep understanding of processes within Calcination, Liquor Burner, and Energy assets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Prior experience in a similar role within the Mining Industry
• SAP data entry and processing skills
• Demonstrate commitment to safe working practices.

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Mechanical Trade Certificate or extensive experience in the Mining industry   
• Current Drivers Licence
• High Risk Work License - Forklift (desirable)
