Manager Aboriginal Business Development
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue Centre & Bennett St - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5:2 - Monday to Friday
Fortescue is seeking a suitability qualified and experienced professional in the role of Manager Aboriginal Business Development. Reporting to the General Manager Community Development, your role will be to lead the engagement and capability development of Aboriginal businesses.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Lead the coordination and development of the Billion Opportunities Program and assist with the delivery of key strategies and actions
- Actively engage with the contract and procurement teams (projects and operations) to identify opportunities for Aboriginal businesses
- Educate internal and external stakeholders of Fortescue’s commitments to Aboriginal business engagement and compliance with Land Access Agreement obligations (business development and contract opportunities)
- Develop and maintain excellent and influential relationships with Aboriginal businesses and key internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor and support the Aboriginal businesses to ensure they deliver services safely, on time and on budget
- Lead the engagement of Fortescue’s contractors to ensure their Aboriginal employment and engagement targets are achieved
- Ensure compliance to the procurement processes
- Build the capability of Aboriginal businesses through introductions to contractors as sub- contractors or establishment of joint ventures
Qualifications and skills required:
- Experience coordinating project and case management processes and timeframes
- Advanced experience and understanding of Aboriginal business issues
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Working with Aboriginal people
- An understanding of mining industry
- An understanding of business processes and structures
