About BHP Carrapateena
Carrapateena is currently transitioning from a Sub Level Cave to a Block Cave, extending the mine life beyond 2040. With development of the Block Cave footprint fast approaching, we’re looking for an experienced senior operations leader to join the team. You’ll be given the opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Carrapateena and uniquely positioned to experience the numerous aspects and challenges associated with this transition.
Joining a team that enables Carrapateena to make data driven decisions, ensuring safety and maximising value, with a vision to be industry leaders in caving operations, your core focus will be on refining long term mine plans and designs, readying them for execution.

About the Role
This is an exciting new opportunity with BHP Carrapateena in a senior leadership role where you will spearhead execution of the Block Cave development. This is a significant opportunity to be part of a new phase of this exceptional asset which will ultimately deliver safe, efficient and increased production.
This role is based at Carrapateena on a 5/2, 4/3 roster and is offered FIFO from Adelaide. BHP can provide relocation support as required.
In this role you will:

Develop, manage and deliver execution strategies, with a focus on compliance to plan

Engage, influence and collaborate with the project execution team to successfully delivery execution including a drive for commissioning effectiveness and efficiency

Collaborate closely with Senior Project and Operational representatives to ensure the successful project
-
Manage change effectively and efficiently to strategically enhance the team’s performance.

Respectfully and professionally, influence stakeholders to drive optimised outcomes, including Operational, Maintenance, Engineering and Technology teams

Drive Operational Readiness activities

Build and develop a balanced and high-performing team

Further develop Block Cave mine designs and schedules, in preparation for handover to medium term planning and execution teams, including mass excavations and footprint development

Contribute to trade off analysis to inform Block Cave infrastructure and mine designs
About You
Your demonstrated experience in leading teams in complex operational and project environments will contribute to your success in this role.
Excellent communication and influencing skills will enable you to quickly establish effective and collaborative relationships while your focus on safety leadership, continuous improvement, inclusion, and risk management will ensure the existing culture of safety excellence and optimal operational delivery is maintained.
In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:

Proven experience in the execution of an operational block cave project

Significant experience in in Block Cave mines in senior technical and operational roles

An engineering and/or trade qualifications within a relevant engineering or maintenance discipline

A focus on compliance to plan

Foundational leadership experience and engagement of teams that support high quality and engaged delivery

Experience implementing continuous improvement strategies with financial and commercial acumen
-
Significant experience in project management and a project delivery mindset with a focus on quality, cost and schedule

The ability to engage and find positive outcomes with diverse internal and external stakeholders
-
Experience and knowledge working across a broad range of disciplines including HSE, Commercial, Contract Management, Project Management and Operations
