Your role as Manager, Communications Delivery Centre involves leading a multi-disciplinary team of communications professionals at varying levels of development known as the Communications Delivery Centre.
The Communications Delivery Centre executes a wide range of strategic and impactful internal and external communications activities for the functional areas of Rio Tinto. You will lead the Communications Delivery Centre to bring innovation and creativity to the way we deliver communications, working with and through the Communications Business Partners in our functions to deliver efficient and effective communications outcomes.
Reporting to the Head of Development & Technology and Communications Business Partners, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Lead the Communications Delivery Centre in the effective and efficient execution of internal and external communications deliverables in alignment with Group and functions strategies.
- Support resourcing needs and manages competing work priorities across the functions.
- Develop and maintain fit-for-purpose reporting of work programme for each function to support better demand management (currently using Monday.com).
- Apply creativity and a strong understanding of technical and financial subject matter to translate and interpret complex concepts into effective communications.
- Responsible for monitoring and has detailed understanding of communication trends and best practice, enabling innovation in communications execution and ongoing team development.
- Manage work with excellent attention to detail, compelling storytelling and visual design with a commitment to consistent, high-quality deliverables.
- Self-motivated, flexible and responsive in overseeing delivery of communication materials to a complex set of stakeholders with multiple, often competing priorities.
- Provides clear and regular feedback to Communications Business Partners on co-commitments, timelines, deliverables and resourcing.
- Manages members of the team to develop their skills and experience.
About you
- Proven ability to provide strategic communications advice and recommendations to executive and senior management, across multiple global portfolios.
- Proven ability to deliver integrated communications plans covering internal and external stakeholders, providing a one stop service in alignment with Group standards.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing communication strategies for employee engagement as well as issues and crisis management and Business Resilience Team (BRT) scenarios.
- Demonstrated delivery of effective and innovative communication and engagement materials, focused on building, sharing and replicating great practice.
- Excellent team management, project management and demand management skills to ensure the right work is done at the right time and by the right resources to maximise strategic impact while maintaining budget integrity.
- Demonstrated excellence in reporting and measurement of communication materials and campaigns, with inbuilt learning loops.
- Effective sourcing and application of freelance and contract resources to support increased short-term demand.
- Strong team leadership and coaching capabilities to ensure effective delivery and career development through a pooled resourcing model.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to tailor communications for different channels and audiences.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, based on trust and expertise.
- Proven ability to embrace a leadership role in communications, supporting a high performance matrixed organisation.
- Ability to coach senior leaders.
