About the role

We are looking for a Manager Data & AI Roadmap to help shape and evolve Rio Tinto’s enterprise Data and AI capability. This role owns the strategy, roadmap and investment plan for our Lakehouse, data integration and AI enablement platforms, ensuring they deliver meaningful business outcomes and support a growing portfolio of analytics, data products and AI solutions.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Enterprise Platforms & Services, you will work across Digital, Operations, Commercial and Technology teams to align platform priorities with business needs, optimise investment decisions and guide the future direction of Rio Tinto’s Data and AI ecosystem.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team responsible for Data and AI platform strategy, roadmap delivery and platform lifecycle management
• Define and maintain the enterprise roadmap for Lakehouse, data integration, Databricks and AI enablement capabilities, balancing business demand, risk and value
• Partner with senior stakeholders across operations, commercial, digital and technology teams to prioritise investment and ensure platform direction aligns with business strategy
• Guide platform evolution by evaluating emerging Data, AI and automation technologies and translating opportunities into actionable plans
• Ensure enterprise Data and AI platforms operate within governance, cyber security and architectural guardrails while enabling innovation at scale
• Drive platform efficiency, automation and service improvement initiatives that enhance user experience and commercial outcomes
• Influence delivery priorities across platform, operations and vendor teams to ensure value is realised from technology investments
• Oversee planning, budget management, resource allocation and performance outcomes across the team and roadmap portfolio

Required for Success

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• Demonstrated ability to develop technology product strategies, create enterprise roadmaps and influence investment decisions across complex stakeholder environments
• Significant leadership experience managing teams and delivering Data, AI, cloud or digital platform outcomes within large, global organisations. Experience within mining, resources or other safety-critical industries is highly regarded
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data, Engineering, Computer Science, Business or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and/or GCP), Databricks, data integration technologies, Lakehouse architectures and AI or machine learning platform ecosystems
• Experience bridging technical and non-technical audiences, building trusted relationships and influencing priorities across business, technology and delivery partners

Helpful for Success

• Experience developing product management practices, platform operating models or investment frameworks for enterprise technology products
• Exposure to Data Mesh concepts, federated data product development or enterprise-scale analytics environments
• Experience working with change management, PMO or enterprise transformation teams to drive adoption and value realisation
