About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity that will help lead BHP through the emerging landscape of Data Privacy, working closely within the global HR Strategy, Planning & Integrity team to embed the safe and responsible handling of HR data across BHP. Working closely with the global Data Privacy & Data Ethics office, you will lead HR data privacy strategy and embedment of privacy-by-design obligations to ensure responsible use of HR data, maintaining trust and transparency with our workforce. You will play a critical role in the development of privacy-enhancing solutions and innovative approaches to monitor and protect the privacy rights of BHP’s People, leading a culture of privacy excellence across HR.
- Lead and deliver HR’s data privacy strategy, driving trust and transparency
- Embed effective governance routines, accountabilities and reporting to maintain and continuously mature HR’s data privacy posture including coordination with Data Privacy Data Ethics office, Legal and Cybersecurity
- Provide timely guidance to HR teams on data privacy best practice, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements, responding to ad hoc queries and actively identifying opportunities to embed privacy by design across HR processes and projects
- Provide expert input and thought leadership in the design of privacy control requirements into projects, steering committees and cross-functional stakeholder forums
- Provide high quality guidance and input to post-incident root cause analyses, Data Privacy Impact Assessments, remediation activities and risk evaluations
- Support HR’s response to potential data privacy complaints, subject access requests, compliance issues and data privacy incidents
About You
- Extensive experience in Privacy or similar
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as law, privacy, HR, Technology or Business
- Previous experience in data privacy compliance within a large organisation including:
- Privacy governance and data mapping
- Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Business process and controls design
- Training delivery
- Application security controls design
- Compliance monitoring
- Knowledge in data privacy principles and legislation across multiple jurisdictions, including GDPR
- Experience as an effective people leader
- An analytical mindset and solid understanding of risk management
- Strong communication and inter-personal skills to engage cross functional stakeholders to deliver outcomes
- IAPP certification highly desirable
