About the Role

We are seeking a Manager HR Data Privacy who is looking to make a difference through partnering with the global HR Strategy, Planning & Integrity team to embed the safe and responsible handling of HR data across BHP. Working closely with the global Data Privacy & Data Ethics office, you will lead HR data privacy strategy and embedment of privacy-by-design obligations to ensure responsible use of HR data, maintaining trust and transparency with our workforce. You will play a critical role in the development of privacy-enhancing solutions and innovative approaches to monitor and protect the privacy rights of BHP’s People, leading a culture of privacy excellence across HR.   Key Responsibilities include  •  Embedding  effective governance routines, accountabilities and reporting to maintain and continuously mature HR’s data privacy posture including coordination with Data Privacy Data Ethics office, Legal and Cybersecurity •  Providing  high quality, practical and timely guidance to HR teams on data privacy best practice  •  Providing  expert input and thought leadership in the design of privacy control requirements into projects, steering committees and cross-functional stakeholder forums •  Supporting HR’s response to potential data privacy complaints, subject access requests, compliance issues and data privacy incidents •  Developing  and delivering relevant data privacy training and awareness across HR teams and help drive continuous improvement of data privacy controls and HR processes •  Developing innovative mechanisms to enable HR management to identify data handling risks and opportunities for improvement, and to embed privacy excellence and ethical data use in current practices •  Monitoring the currency of data maps and data processing inventories relating to HR data and conduct third party privacy audits  

About You

You will be an experienced leader  in privacy or a related field, as a strategic thinker, you will also be innovative and guide the future direction of our organisation and the future work of our employees. Critical to the success of this role is your ability to be collaborative and actively build strong partnerships across our HR Data Privacy Function.  It is important that you are down to earth, resilient, have an eye for detail and are results driven. Naturally, your communication and interpersonal skills will be a strength as you interact with a variety of stakeholders.    •  Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as law, privacy, HR, technology or business •  Previous experience in data privacy compliance within a large organisation including:  •  Knowledge in data privacy principles and legislation across multiple jurisdictions, including GDPR •  Experience as an effective people leader  •  An analytical mindset and solid understanding of risk management •  Strong communication and inter-personal skills to engage cross functional stakeholders to deliver outcomes •  IAPP certification highly desirable
