About the Role
This role is responsible for the management of BHP's Australia and Asia Investigations team, as well reviewing and conducting investigations. Providing leadership in the effective and efficient management of a high volume portfolio of investigations, the role is expected to technically support and guide investigations and outcomes on behalf of the business.
Close internal and external relationships are key to success, particularly given the responsibility of four subordinates where it is expected the incumbent drive the strategic and operational direction for the team as well as fostering an environment of collaboration. As a people leader, the role will help employees to set goals and KPIs, discuss personal and professional development tools and manage human resource activities.
Accountabilities with the biggest impact are as follows:
- Follows developments in international best practice, regulatory guidance and learnings from investigations to drive continuous improvement
- Drives positive change in Ethics & Investigations by challenging assumptions and leading innovation initiatives for the Investigations process
- Provides an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development including managing fatigue and mental wellbeing
- Manages multiple concurrent investigations ensuring they are appropriately resourced, in accordance with the agreed scope and delivered with a high degree of quality, and aligned to time and budget
- Ensures compliance with the Investigations Framework including upskilling the Investigations team to ensure compliance
- Reviews investigations reports, ensuring completion of cases to a high standard, complying with evidentiary laws and policies relating to evidence.
About You

Experience and requirements of the role include:
- Degree in Law, Investigations or related field
- 10+ years of experience in managing high volume regulatory, criminal or employment based investigations
- Demonstrated experience in managing vendors and outsourced providers (essential)
- Proven ability to lead geographically disperse, output oriented and empowered teams
- Experience working in government and/or corporate investigations and/or forensic investigations experience
- Knowledge of strategic risk management, including the identification and control of emerging risks in a dynamic delivery environment
- Strong project management experience
