ABOUT Cannington

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. Cannington mine provides on-site accommodation including meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Townsville, Cairns and Brisbane or DIDO from Mount Isa.

As the Manager Engineering you will be responsible to provide leadership, expertise and direction that ensures that the Engineering Function effectively delivers required technical support to the Operation. Owns and effectively controls all of the Operation’s technical documentation and standards through a robust document management and change control process, and establishes a work environment that is planned and predictable which results in safe and efficient execution of engineering work.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Establish and own the processes required for managing engineering requests from the Operation and the preparation, prioritisation, control and safe execution of a yearly Small Projects portfolio for the Operation in accordance with relevant processes and standards for the Asset / Operation.
  • Identify and design material risk critical controls for the Engineering Function and associated engineering
  • Provide input into long-term planning (Life of Asset, 5-year plan, 2 year budget and short range forecast).
  • Establish plans, budgets and performance targets for the Engineering sub-functions in line with
  • Operational requirements and standards and ensure delivery against them. Promote operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical knowledge of team members
  • Ensure the Engineering functions outputs contribute towards achievement of Operational targets and budgets for HSEC, Volume and Cost.
  • Ensure effective asset management strategies and practices are in place.
  • Delivery of our Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP)
  • Ensure the safe execution of our 16-week surface outages

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • 10+ years of mining industry experience in operations, Engineering, Asset Management and Design/Drafting
  • Experience in capital project management, governance $0.5M to $20M
  • Experience in a management role that managed 20 - 40 employees across different teams for between 4 and 6 years. Made a strategic contribution by using the team and the advice of functional staff to envision all possible practices and systems that might be used for delivery and selecting those that are within budget and appropriate for local conditions. Experience in decision-making that directly impacted an Operational Area.
  • Experience in processing plant design, development, operation and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of Community, Safety, Sustainability and relevant statutory Regulations
  • Advanced Computer Literacy Skills including SAP, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Leadership and Management capabilities spanning Operational, Maintenance and Technical work groups

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor degree and relevant certificate / diploma in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil / Instrumentation / Process Engineering or Production and Processing as required in local jurisdiction.
