About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and influential people-leader to join our Kalgoorlie team in the role of Manager Engineering. Reporting to the General Manager, this is an exciting key leadership role, accountable for designing and delivering the site capital investment portfolio and providing functional excellence in Governance & Technical Stewardship.
You will shape and drive improvement through a team of technical experts, and be instrumental in influencing the future business environment. You will contribute to the development of the site strategic plan and work with our stakeholders to deliver this across the pillars of Safety and Sustainability, Social Value, People, Performance and Portfolio.
About You
You will have a passion to build, shape and support our multi-disciplined, diverse team as we strive for high performance, through embracing inclusivity and valuing diversity, technical expertise and leadership.
You will have a collaborative approach, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholder groups and positively influence outcomes. Your excellent communication skills include a deep understanding of stakeholder needs and preferences and an ability to support leadership teams by providing context and insight to facilitate decision making and strategic direction. You will be able to build collaborative relationships within BHP and with our contracting partners.
You will engage the team by setting clear direction and context, and be able to effectively lead change and coach your team to connect their work to purpose and meet objectives. You will have experience with continuous improvement methodologies and a strong focus on improvement.
You will proactively identify and take accountability to manage all relevant risks (operational, strategic, compliance and reporting) and makes decisions within risk appetite that optimise risk and reward.
Experience preferred includes leadership of a diverse team, engineering (any discipline) and experience within the Resources, Utilities and/ or Infrastructure industries.
Location
The smelter, located just 15 minutes from the regional centre of Kalgoorlie, receives nickel concentrate from our mining operations in Leinster and Mt Keith as well as from our concentrator in Kambalda.
Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. The City of Kalgoorlie/Boulder offers modern shopping facilities, a huge variety of sports, leisure activities and clubs, and schooling for all ages. There are contemporary housing options for all budgets. This residential site is family friendly and flexible work arrangements are available.
