The opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager External Affairs and playing an important role in the IMC Leadership Team, you will lead the External Affairs function at IMC to inform, motivate and engage the workforce in pursuit of strategic objectives. Leading a team of 4, you will protect and enhance South32’s reputation, maintain social licence to operate and builds strong and mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain oversight of the development and execution of key plans including the Communications Plan, Community Investment Plan and Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Provide External Affairs advice and support to the Vice President Operations
  • Lead local issue management and engagement activities
  • Represent the operation at key external forums and events
  • Lead the provision of External Affairs support to key regulatory approvals processes
  • Lead the provision of relevant reports, information and data to South32 for corporate reporting purposes

About you

  • Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience in developing External Affairs plans and strategies
  • Experience that encompasses communications, community investment and stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrate ability to develop effective working relationships across multiple levels of an organisation and with external stakeholders
  • Resources industry experience is mandatory
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.

About Illawarra Metallurgical Coal

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal is a long term and leading coking coal supplier which operates two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

Location

This position will be based at the Regional Operations Centre, Port Kembla Coal Terminal in Wollongong, NSW.
