About the Role

  • The role can be based in Australia (Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane), or Santiago (Chile) or Singapore.

The purpose of the External Affairs (EA) Operations team is to enable and amplify the impact of our EA team. The Manager EA Strategy, Planning & Integrity provides leadership to a team focused on developing and coordinating EA-wide strategy, planning and corporate processes, informed by horizon scanning and benchmarking; governing EA wide-systems and processes; and identifying EA-wide improvements.  Reporting to the Head of EA Operations, the role sits on the EA Operations Lead Team and supports EA globally.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and sustain a world class strategy, planning and integrity function for EA.
  • Develop and coordinate a future focused EA wide strategy and measure performance.
  • Proactively contribute to the long-term strategy of EA, including providing strategic direction based on external trends and identified internal needs.  
  • Lead regular horizon scanning, external industry analysis and benchmarking activities. 
  • Set and continuously improves processes for core EA-wide strategy, planning, finance, operational, systems, technology and governance activities.
  • Lead development and coordination of planning and processes to ensure compliance with key corporate deliverables (including corporate alignment planning (CAP) process, budget, appraisal, cash prioritisation and benchmarking).  
  • Support oversight of EA budget management, strategic support and analysis to identify trends and opportunities and improvements.
  • Conceptualising, designing and implementing data collection strategies and reporting frameworks to allow systematic data-capture. Provides qualitative and quantitative analysis and data visualisation for planning, decision making and to communicate value of EA.. 
  • Maintain and oversee Technology & Innovation Roadmap including in partnership with Technology. 
  • Govern all EA-wide systems, data management and processes (e.g. software application portfolio, major and minor works, and administer EA-wide tools).
  • Drive EA wide continuous improvement, best practice and operational excellence. Identify EA wide process improvements and partner with sub-functional teams to implement.
  • Represent EA at relevant industry groups and establishing relationships with external parties to facilitate horizon scanning and best practice sharing 

About You  

  • Experience within or adjacent to the External Affairs space, preferably in a large multi-national corporate environment, or in a top-tier law firm, big 4 firm, or consulting firm.   
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and drive an excellent team culture.
  • Commercial/business acumen, and an understanding of the key drivers of shareholder value. Strong understanding or issues and risks impacting the Company and the External Affairs professions, including the impact of technology and analytics. 
  • Strong financial management and analysis experience, the ability to wrangle complex data and transform it into business-critical insights.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and tracking functional strategy and plans, articulating functional value and performance 
  • Experience in planning and managing programs and projects, and driving improvements, engaging and influencing at senior levels. Able to demonstrate strong critical reasoning and analytics skills, quickly grasp technical concepts and apply theories. Able to find creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and very strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills and an aptitude for analysing and synthesising complex information to derive quality insight and communicating these insights in a compelling manner.
  • Energetic and driven, able to work well under pressure bringing attention to detail and an ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines.
