About the role:
We are currently seeking a Manager Financial Reporting to be based at our South Brisbane Office.
Reporting to the Director Financial Accounting, you will be joining a high performing team. You will be responsible for the delivery and management of the IFRS statutory financial reporting process and associated US GAAP financial reporting for the Peabody Australia business. This role will also provide support to the business on governance and compliance.
Duties will include:
- Ownership of the IFRS statutory financial reporting process including: Maintaining accounting standards, ensuring accounting excellence
- Ensure compliance with and management of deed of cross guarantee, in conjunction with internal legal team
- Project management of the half yeah and annual reporting cycles from beginning to end
- Liaising with senior management, internal tax team, internal legal team, external auditors and company directors
- Involvement in application of lease accounting standards for both IFRS and USGAAP including contract review, maintenance of lease accounting software information, preparation of associated monthly journal entries and periodic roll forward reconciliations
- Provide support to Director Financial Accounting as required
- Undertake accounting analysis to ensure operations meet Peabody and external financial reporting requirements
- Drive continuous improvement of processes and procedures for improved efficiency and service delivery
- Proactively manage your own development including technical training requirements are up to date.

This permanent position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis with flexible working arrangements and early Friday finishes, all year round.
About you:
- Business degree in Accounting/Commerce teamed with CPA/CA qualifications
- Strong grasp of IFRS and USGAAP with a detailed understanding of variances between IFRS and USGAAP, preferably as they relate to the mining industry
- SAP experience and strong excel capabilities
- 12 years post graduate experience in large accounting firms or commerce (previous mining company experience is advantageous)
- Strong background in technical accounting and reporting; audit experience would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and ability to think strategically
- Strong communication skills with previous experience communicating results to Board and Senior Management
