About the Role

We are actively seeking the talents of a driven and highly motivated Manager – Fixed Plant to join the WAIO leadership Team based at South Flank.

Reporting to the South Flank General Manager, in this key position, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining plant, equipment, process control coding and infrastructure in support of the business plan.

Key Responsibilities will include: 

  • Managing organisation, cultural and innovation change for the South Flank Fixed Plant
  • Leads and enables the Fixed Plant  Operations and Maintenance team in an engaging and inclusive way to deliver safe high quality outcomes.
  • Provide safety leadership including safety and risk management
  • Nurturing a positive, safe, and productive team environment
  • Prioritising the development of employees through coaching and mentoring
  • Pro-actively leverage the BHP Operating System to deliver outcomes
  • Monitors the Work Management Monitoring and Controlling process to improve WM compliance and effectiveness and sets and monitors performance expectations and metrics for the Maintenance and Operations function.
  • Gives input into the Life of Asset and 5-Year Plan objectives and budget, driving performance and implementation accordingly.

About You

Your demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring large, multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment will contribute to your success in this role.  

Exceptional maintenance and operating expertise complimented by a diverse operational mining background will certainly be advantageous. Excellent communication and influencing skills will enable you to quickly establish effective and collaborative relationships while your focus on safety leadership, continuous improvement, inclusion, and risk management will ensure the existing culture of safety excellence and optimal operational delivery is maintained.

 In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:

  • A background in both Processing Operations/Asset maintenance and management within a similar operational environment.
  • An engineering and/or trade qualifications within a relevant engineering or maintenance discipline
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment and the community.
  • Results focused with a demonstrated track record managing successful, cohesive teams.
  • A leader who actively nurtures an open and safe environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Location

South Flank is a greenfield mine and brownfield processing centre created adjacent to and within the Mining Area C operation. Located approximately 130km north-west of Newman, South Flank together with Mining Area C will become one of the largest iron ore hubs in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore and will help maximise the volume and quality of BHP’s iron ore production, which is essential for the world’s steel.
