About the Role
We currently have an opportunity for a Manager, Functional Audit, where you will provide leadership in the delivery of the approved internal audit plan by effectively and efficiently managing a portfolio of audit engagements across Global Functions. This role can be based in any of our offices in Australia, including Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide or Melbourne
- Conducts internal audits in accordance with the Internal Audit Framework, relevant our requirement (ORS) and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing as promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Contributes to the development of the annual internal audit planning process by completing risk assessments and analysis, interviewing senior management, understanding emerging trends and risk and identifying appropriate assurance activities.
- Provides leadership in the delivery of the approved annual internal audit plan, ensuring that internal audit work for the assigned portfolio of engagements is performed in accordance with the Internal Audit Charter, relevant ORS and professional and departmental standards. Manages multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are appropriately resourced and are delivered on-time, on-budget, in accordance with the approved scope of those projects and with a high degree of quality. Leads the audit team during the conduct of field work. Promotes collaboration and resolves conflict that may emerge between team members or between Group Risk, Insurance and Audit (GRIA) and the business.
- Manages a group of directly reporting employees, providing leadership on setting goals and KPIs, personal and professional development and managing the administrative human resources activities.
- Leveraging past experience and extensive functional knowledge of internal audit and risk management, guides project teams in delivering internal audits that are value-oriented, risk-focused and address OR compliance. Provides clarity over complex issues and is a catalyst for positive change by challenging assumptions, promoting critical thinking and helping the business change their paradigms about how things are done.
- Provides timely, objective, complete, factually accurate, practical and professionally written internal audit reports that add value and provide stakeholders with the necessary transparency of information to make appropriate decisions.
- Enthusiastically collaborates, provides new insights and contributes to the effective management of their team. Assists the GRIA Leadership Team in achieving and sustaining functional excellence.
- Sources, trains and manages suitable guest auditors, where appropriate. Manages internal auditors’, co-source auditors’ and guest auditors’ work performance through timely feedback, coaching, mentoring and recognition / corrective action. Maximises the effectiveness of GRIA`S global and regional presence.
- Manages the logistics and safety of audit staff and contractors working in the field.
About You

Bachelor of Commerce/Management/Finance or Accounting or similar field, combined with a professional designation, with a heavy preference shown for certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

A number of years in people management within a large, complex and global organisation.
- Strong understanding of Australian, UK and US regulatory reporting environments
- Strong familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley procedures and requirements.
- Experience & Technical Competencies
- 10+ year’s significant audit/specialist experience.
- Significant communication, facilitation, influencing and interpersonal skills, essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders and cross functional teams
- Significant post-qualification experience in a multi-entity, large international corporate environment.
- Deep understanding of audit/risk including various models of delivery
- Well-developed project management skills involving oversight of a number of concurrent projects.
- Experience in mining, heavy manufacturing and/or Industrial industry work environments preferred.
- Experience in listed companies essential.
- Maintains the highest professional ethics and standards.
