About the Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure effective communication, understanding and application of common ‘group level’ functional safety practices, processes and systems.
- Ensure effective lifecycle management of functional safety systems; particularly where present as critical controls for Major Hazards.
- Act as a central subject matter expert for functional safety, supporting the implementation of the D7 Functional Safety standard across a diverse range of Assets - Fixed Plant, Heavy Mobile, Port and Rail assets within Rio Tinto’s operations.
Contribute to the alignment and impact of the Processing CoE as a whole.
About You
To succeed in this role, you have:
- Substantial experience in a role with safety responsibilities
- Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety Systems; standards and key risk management and assurance processes
- A University degree in Health, Safety, human factors, engineering or a related field experience desired but not essential
- Ability to communicate in English and French is a requirement
But most importantly, you are recognized for your:
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical application in an operational environment
- Strong communication, problem solving and analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders in various contexts and from different backgrounds
- Experience in mining or similar heavy industry would be considered as an asset
