About the Role

Lead, develop and manage the performance of the Global Mobility (GM) team in HR Global Business Services to deliver high quality GM services, ensuring timely, accurate and effective execution of activities, including guidance and advice to employees, HR and leaders.

  • Accountable for the delivery, administration and execution of BHP’s global mobility program and procedures.
  • Manage, motivate, coach and develop a team of global mobility specialists to deliver world class service, ensuring delivery is compliant, timely and employee experience-focussed whilst maintaining operational discipline. 
  • Develop deep capability in the GM team via coaching to ensure GM process and procedures are accurate and fit for purpose, always considering the employee experience. Enable GM team members through leadership and effective performance management.  Support organisational change through effective change management with the team. 
  • Drive simplification and harmonisation of GM activities and processes to support the business with moving talent across the organisation. Proactively seek opportunities to simplify, remove duplication and minimise hand-offs to enhance standardisation, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provide deep technical expertise on tax, immigration, and relocation, considering external legal, regulatory and reporting requirements to mitigate risk for employees and the business.
  • Support the GM team with resolving complex employee and leader global mobility queries and be the point of escalation for the business on service delivery and compliance issues. 
  • Produce and analyse relevant reports on BHP International Assignees to support operational and management Key Performance Indicators, including provision of data insights on the GM program, as and when required. 
  • Monitor, govern and ensure alignment and compliance with internal controls including Group Level Documents, agreements, systems, standards and procedures, and legislative compliance. Ensure that GM processes are documented and standards are maintained.
  • Identify risks and provide input into mitigations and action planning.  Ensure Risk Management protocols are incorporated into operational and vendor activities.
  • Manage relationships with external GM Vendors to ensure high quality service delivery and prompt resolution of issues, including contractual management of global vendors sitting within HR GBS. 
  • Support the Manager Reward Global Functions with GM policy reviews as required, providing insight into the delivery of the GM Program and opportunities to enhance the BHP policies.  

About You

  • Degree / equivalent education required and/or equivalent experience in global mobility/international reward roles
  • Deep experience with the management and understanding of global mobility programs and policies 
  • Excellent understanding of reporting requirements and governance issues as they relate to tax and immigration and understanding of global jurisdictional differences, legislation and regulations 
  • Extensive technical experience in global mobility concepts, methodologies and approaches as well as strong people management (directly or indirectly) in a global company.     
  • Excellent understanding of international HR and payroll processes, reporting and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written; Spanish capability an advantage
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously while prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in use of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel skills. Experience in SAP and AssignmentPro preferred
