Manager Governance and Assurance

Work location: Perth, WA

Roster: Monday to Friday

As a key member and leader within the Global Project Services and Assurance team, you are responsible for the leadership, project governance, due diligence, management, formulation, implementation, and the maintenance of Project Services global governance, assurance and reporting requirements in support of Studies and Delivery Projects. The role supports the reporting, risk, and quality assurance functions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and champion Project Governance, Quality and Risk functions across all Project phases.
  • Lead and champion the improvement & integration of all Project Services functions across Regions, Countries, Projects and Operations.
  • Provide leadership on all interface activities between Project Services & Assurance, Studies, Projects, Engineering, Delivery, Operations, Manufacturing, consultants, and contractors, on project governance deliverables and inputs into regional and global systems.
  • Be the custodian of Lessons Learnt and ensure that lessons are posted in a timely fashion to enhance potential (timely) utilisation across Fortescue.
  • Be the champion for project services procedural and systems requirements, linking and including corporate project services framework, vision and structure into the delivery model.
  • Be the simplicity and functionality champion for Project Services and Assurance services. 
  • Provide all services in strict accordance with Fortescue ‘procedures and by using the approved Fortescue systems. 
  • Ensure the application of Fortescue’s vision, values and drive for simplicity in delivery services and ensure you champion continuous improvement in a transparent and coordinated manner.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Degree qualification and MBA/MPM focusing on project and complexity management, risk and planning could be advantageous.
  • Minimum 15+ years’ experience of supporting mega projects in senior management and delivery roles, preferably in the resources and renewable energy sector and involved in complex construction and engineering delivery. 
  • Experience working for a multi-national (client-side) or a Tier 1 Project consultant.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, problem-solving, analytical, and funding knowledge gained through successful project delivery. 
  • Can demonstrate mega project experience as a team leader where they delivered concept, scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, execution, and operational readiness to complete a successful project.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and practical experience regarding successfully delivering project controls, planning, risk, data, systems, and strategic guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high levels of assurance and governance.
  • Must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, collaborating with other like-minded team members and adjacent projects.
  • Able to adapt to multidisciplinary requirements, communicate with various stakeholders across an international business operating continuously in all time zones.
  • Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills.
  • Strong leadership, management, and team organizational skills with a willingness to travel for short and long periods. 
  • Ability to professionally communicate in a strategic, tactical, and highly impactful manner.
