About the Role
As a Manager Innovation Project Delivery Office (PDO), you will be leading a team focused on developing and executing technology pilots & tests at various levels of maturity, including market-ready solutions, emerging technologies that require de-risking, and disruptive innovations with lower market maturity, all tailored to meet both current and future needs of the Asset.
Your team collaborates closely with asset projects, operations and technology, Think & Act Differently (TAD) functions, and other functional teams within BHP to ensure alignment of pilots with asset customers, designing pilot programs and establishing statements of requirements and investment requests in partnership with TAD and asset SMEs and delivery of those pilots within the approved statement of requirement
Accountabilities
- Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders to facilitate piloting programs across the asset, broader BHP and external JVs.
- Ensure the global vision of the Innovation Delivery area is upheld across both Minerals Australia (this role) and Minerals Americas and aligned with the Global TAD Strategy.
- Develops integrated project statements of requirements and deliverables and integrates project work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure.
- Develops and implements project turnover processes and executes commissioning/handover activities, where needed. to facilitate the successful commissioning of equipment/projects across minerals Australia and BHP in collaboration with MinAm team.
- Provide the necessary support, and project facilitation to streamline the implementation of innovation pilots & tests on site.
- Monitors HSE compliance and applies appropriate methodologies/standards to deliver effective pilot projects across BHP.
- Monitors and manages project performance to deliver projects in line with safety standards, requirements, budget and scope.
- Defines project objectives/schedules, engineering requirements, identifies critical activities, monitors the project plan/schedule and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP.
- Manages contract execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure and risk.
- Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- With TAD and customer design business adoption approach and criteria. Gain support for ana negotiates outcome that achieve mutually beneficial goals.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Proven track record of building a high performing team in a highly collaborative environment.
- Strong people leadership and focus on developing team members
- Extensive experience working with operational Assets in Mining, ideally experience working across small, medium and major projects.
- Demonstarted relevant track record and ability to lead and/or scale implementation of innovation pilots successfully and rapidly into core business areas.
- Proven commercial acumen in outline contract requirements for projects from all innovator vendors to OEMs.
- A deep understanding of a day in the life of our partners in the Assets, with an appreciation of the competing priorities and tensions which may impact the priority given to innovative trials, and the capability to successfully navigate those competing priorities.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with a broad range of internal stakeholders and technical experts.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and understanding early indications where innovation is needed in business processes and systems.
- Experience resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination across departments.
- Experience in Mining or related fields in a managerial role would be beneficial.
