Role Title:  Manager Instrumentation and Control Systems

Work Location:  The Woodlands, Houston

Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Manager I&C Engineering is responsible for developing and executing the Instrumentation & Control and Telecoms scope in various stages of project lifecycle including concept, feasibility and FEED design development in the Americas. The position requires working with an international team of energy experts, Company technical and delivery teams, various EPC and third party contractors.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Align with Fortescue values and safety culture
  • Implements best practices in control systems engineering activities across projects
  • Supports development of FFI specifications and standards
  • Develops control system design and establish basis of design
  • Able to work in a multidiscipline team environment supporting various activities including review of inhouse and contractor deliverables
  • Reviews and approves key business deliverables including those with significant multi-discipline content
  • Able to creatively solve significant, complex and non-routine problems related to control systems
  • Carries out technical verification and assurance of contractor deliverables
  • Reviews and assesses contractor personnel competence
  • Participates in 3D model reviews, constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews
  • Organizes and participates in meetings to suit international time zones, as required.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 4-year degree in Electronics or Control Systems Engineering. PE license preferred
  • Significant years experience in design and construction of instrumented systems, including a number of years in a lead role. Some experience with owner/operator is preferred
  • Strong familiarity with industry codes and standards and understanding of functional requirements related to ICSS, DCS, MAC and PLC systems
  • Hands on experience with commonly used design and selection software
  • Project experience including delivery of complex multi discipline projects. Prior experience in a similar role within the Oil and Gas industry preferred
  • Able to work across multiple scopes and with engineering disciplines to successfully engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Able to manage under pressure and adapt quickly to change
  • Understanding of greenfield project timeframes and their phase gates
  • Previous experience in overseeing EPC design activities is preferred.
  • Experience in projects from concept through FEED, detailed design and commissioning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and logistics skills
