West Musgrave will be one of the world’s largest, lowest cost, lowest emissions copper-nickel projects.

Our West Musgrave nickel-copper project is located on Ngaanyatjarra country, in the Musgrave Province of Central Western Australia, and includes the Nebo and Babel nickel-copper deposits and the Succoth copper deposit.
West Musgrave, which has a 26-year mine life, will be an owner-operator mining operation and in addition to being powered by ~80 per cent renewable energy, the Project scope includes a pathway to net zero Scope 1 emissions by 2038.
The Project will feature an Autonomous Haulage System and remote operations from day one and our workforce will be a flexible, technology enabled team supported by remote operations to improve safety outcomes and maximise opportunities for flexible working and diverse participation.

About the Role
Location: Open (with opportunity to work remotely from home) but with travel to Adelaide or Perth as required.

The Details
Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the development and integration of specific operational methodologies to achieve enterprise-wide optimisation. Integrating systems, processes and behaviours you will ensure the West Musgrave architecture:
- fosters and encourages the right behaviours,
- supplies the context and awareness for insight-making,
- provide specialist advise through geotechnical and geology resources and
- enables people through decision-making processes that are adaptive to the changing environment and create best outcomes over time scales.
Through Operations Readiness phase, you will focus on defining the production and maintenance philosophies, the design of the workplace, structures, processes and associated technologies, and the approach to collaboration. Moving into Operations you will provide the leadership to embed the architecture work and improve the integration between planning horizons, across the value chain and supporting functions that enables plan adherence in a more predictable manner.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager – Integrated Planning role will focus on ensuring the West Musgrave Project is safely delivered on time and on budget. Specifically, this includes:
- Develop integrated plans across the entire value chain, for the operation to bring together mining, processing and maintenance activities and teams.
- Collaborate with the Operations Leadership team to develop the technologies, systems and architectures to deliver information and insights in real time so that people can respond in a controlled but rapid way to new information or events, with changes scenario planned across time and integrated systems, with accurate understanding of stakeholder and financial impacts.
- Build standardised planning, budgeting, and forecasting calendar, guidelines and process that also flex and scale to meet growth aspirations and integrate with BHP Nickel West.
- Shape and foster the culture, processes and systems that enable enterprise awareness for analysis, scenario planning, and optimal decision making using the value of diverse thinking in teams. Foster the formation of an integrated planning community, with decisions integrated into quick and event-driven planning cycles across the tightly coupled value chain.
- Carry out reviews and optimisation studies to outline preferred strategic development options for the mine and surrounding mineralisation.
- Resource and Reserve Definition and Reporting, including establishing and implementing grade control, reconciliation and reporting procedures.
- Utilise the Mine Operating System (MOS) to prepare and deliver integrated site plans across the Life of Mine, Budget, Quarterly, 13 Week and Weekly planning horizons, with significant operational team input, involvement, and ownership.
- Maintain a good relationship with all stakeholders, including the indigenous community by being a good and supportive neighbour.
- Develop and support the Integrated Planning team members through their professional development and mentoring.
Applicant Requirements
This role requires a self-motivated, hands on and values-based individual with a desire to deliver best practice outcomes with skills, experience, and personal attributes including:
- Formal qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical or Metallurgy.
- Experiencewith mine to mill schedule optimisation from life of mine through to operational planning.
- Leadership of large multi-disciplined technical teams.
- Prior experience in leading, managing and influencing an Integrated Planning team.
- Experienced in delivering all aspects of an Integrated Planning Reporting Framework.
- Sufficient technical experience to understand risks and opportunities identified by technical disciplines, geology, geotech and mining tech services, to provide leadership and integration of insights into planning.
- Exposure across technical, operations, marketing and support functions to see the system broadly.
