Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a permanent full-time position being offered on Monday-Thursday 4:3 FIFO roster from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option on Groote Eylandt considered.

As the Manager Maintenance, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing production efficiency through strong leadership and effective systems management, with a focus on mobile, fixed plant, and non-process infrastructure (NPI) maintenance.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Foster a safe working environment by leading and cultivating an interdependent safety culture, ensuring adherence to the South32 Safety Guarantee and driving improvements in safety performance.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of responsibility, consistently seeking to enhance value outcomes through structured improvement processes.
• Oversee the department's optimal management by implementing policies, procedures, and business systems, while effectively utilising human and financial resources.
• Promote clear expectations and understanding of processes to ensure safe mining and maintenance operations in line with planned objectives.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Previous experience in a similar role leading large multidisciplinary maintenance teams
• Relevant management experience with a focus on making informed business decisions.
• Demonstrated experience in driving business improvement and implementing positive change.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a passion for coaching, supporting, and fostering collaboration among production employees.

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or relevant experience in an associated Engineering discipline
