About BMA

BMA is Australia’s largest coal producer and supplier of seaborne metallurgical coal. BMA is owned 50:50 by BHP and Mitsubishi Alliance. BMA operates seven Bowen Basin mines (Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Daunia, Peak Downs, Saraji, Blackwater and Caval Ridge) and owns and operates the Hay Point Coal Terminal and BMA Rail in Mackay.

About the Role

This high-profile role will see you motivate and lead your team to safely deliver and achieve maintenance reliability, strategy implementation, shutdown execution and planning, and compliance targets, as well as driving productivity improvements and cost reductions. As the Manager Maintenance you will provide leadership and direction to achieve cost and maintenance performance deliverables. You will be an integral member of the Site Leadership team, responsible for the delivery of team goals and strong support in various departments. This position will enable you to use your technical experience and leadership skills to coach and mentor your team, drive best practice and truly make a difference to site maintenance.

This role is based at Daunia on a 4/3 roster and can be offered flexibly as residential or commute options throughout Queensland.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Providing input to the mine site objectives & exceptional focus delivering on budget commitments, driving performance & implementing such accordingly
  • Driving the consistent expectations, understanding & application of Production processes to enable compliance
  • Developing and managing effective external stakeholder engagement with a wide variety of stakeholders including regulatory authorities
  • Delivering on all aspects of work management requirements for Daunia mine, continuous adherence to the shutdown framework including the execution & delivery of multiple shutdowns per year
  • Strong contract management discipline with exceptional contractor engagement skills and an ability to develop contractor teams
  • Developing budgets and forecasts for the overall Maintenance department budget
  • Encouraging and promoting continuous improvement by constantly looking for opportunities to improve work practices and procedures
  • Continuing the focus on the maintenance department strategies holistically, including the implementation of the Total Equipment Strategy
  • Supporting the deployment and ongoing integration of the BHP Operating System (BOS) or the Shingo Model
  • Promote operating discipline related to the 1SAP work management processes
  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader by engaging, developing and coaching your team whilst ensuring an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development

About You

Your relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in maintenance, as well as your strong interpersonal skills leading a diverse range of personnel within our business will see you succeed in this role. While your stakeholder engagement with people at all levels of the business and managing multiple priorities will be advantageous.
