About the Role

As the Manager Mastery and Training, your purpose is to support Operations Services (OS) execution teams deliver improved performance through the implementation and ongoing embedment of the OS Mastery and Training Programs.  The role leads teams based in Western and South Australia who are focused on delivering quality in-field Mastery and Training execution which supports frontline Maintenance and Production teams. The role is part of the OS Management team and works collaboratively with Operational and Maintenance Senior Leaders across West and South Australia.

The role leads the Mastery and Training team who are accountable for:

  • Driving the ongoing development and delivery of the OS Mastery Program for Operations Services teams in West and South Australia;
  • Carrying out formal performance Mastery verifications against Mastery Standards with frontline teams including coaching Leaders in the Mastery assessment and verification processes; 
  • Delivery of Masterclasses and other formal Mastery development training in the classroom environment in partnership with Training and other subject matter experts;
  • Delivering quality training activities and enable the Maintenance and Production execution to be successful;
  • Oversee the enhancements of supporting systems and processes across Mastery and Training to integrate into broader BHP people systems.

About You

Ideally, you will be or have: 

  • A strong background of operational experience at senior leader level within the mining sector or related heavy industry leading other highly capable leaders;
  • A broad organisational capability background touching on technical training, leadership development and performance improvement;
  • A highly refined skillset in leading and influencing change across a broad range of operational and functional stakeholders within a matrix organisational structure;
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to engage and build relationships across multiple layers of the organization from senior management to frontline leaders to drive outcomes; 
  • Good experience and skills in the use of technology in managing work processes, data capture and performance analytics to inform improvements;
  • Very good organizational skills with the ability to effectively leverage a broad network of stakeholders across BHP to deliver aligned outcomes.
