Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. About the Role

We are actively seeking the talents of skilled Managers to support Mine Planning and Technical leadership positions.  The roles cover both underground and surface mining activities. They also oversee large and diverse multi-disiplinary teams in mining disciplines. They will draw upon your extensive and broad skills gained in various leadership and operational roles within the mining industry. This role will also continue to build upon the existing culture of safety excellence and optimal operational delivery within Nickel West.

Key Responsibilities will include: 

  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership to promote a culture of zero harm through appropriate time in field  
  • Positively influence and shape a pro-active and engaging team culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality disciplined and sustainable approach to work 
  • Lead the development of employees through coaching & mentoring and ensuring short to medium term talent and succession planning is in place 
  • Lead transformational initiatives and role model change to ensure successful delivery and alignment with strategy 
  • Yearly life of Asset Planning and yearly Reserve reporting
  • Providing expert review, guidance and governance across the asset for mine planning
  • Lead the technical execution of mine engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying and geology at the mine sites
  • Set the vision, strategy and long term goals for your teams

About You

Your demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring large, multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment will contribute to your success in this role.  

Exceptional technical expertise complimented by a diverse operational mining background will certainly be advantageous. Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills will also be critical in ensuring you build effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across the business.

In addition, you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated success working within a similar delivery focused position 
  • Previous experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as LEAN will be highly regarded 
  • Experience in technical and operational Leadership 
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline
  • A proven track record when it comes to safety management 
  • The ability to influence and inspire others to achieve results 
  • Demonstrated success building cohesive and inclusive teams
