About the role
This is a permanent full-time role being offered on a 4:3 roster, FIFO Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential.
Reporting to the Vice President Operations, GEMCO, you will be accountable for the effective organisation and operation of people, processes and equipment to enable the sustainable delivery of mining team targets for safety, volume, productivity (operations and maintenance), and cost.
Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Work safely within the South32 Safety Guarantee including leading, establishing and maintaining an interdependent safety culture within the team including the delivery of improvements in safety performance
- Apply continuous improvement to all areas of accountability and perpetually strive to deliver better value outcomes through the application of rigorous improvement process
- Identify and implement improved productivity outcomes across the mining operation
- Drive the consistent expectations, understanding and application of the processes in use to deliver safe mining and maintenance activities in compliance with planned deliverables
- Provide visible leadership, knowledge and direction for the Mining team to meet expectations and improve over time
- Provide leadership across mining operation activities (topsoil removal, overburden improvement, mining, stockpiling, rehabilitation)
- Identify and manage risk associated with GEMCO’s mining operation
- Drive a highly productive culture aligned with the South32 values
- Collaborate with peers to ensure interfaces across the value chain especially with the Production Planning, Processing and Logistics teams are effective
About you
You will be an experienced Operational Leader who places a priority on providing a safe working environment and continuous improvement to all areas of accountability.
To be considered for the role, you will have:
- Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline is preferred
- Proven experience successfully leading and engaging a team to deliver outcomes that consistently meet or exceed targets
- Ability to develop, coach and mentor employees to improve engagement, diversity, and capability
- Sound presentation, facilitation and influencing skills
- Advanced computer literacy skills
- Maintenance planning/execution leadership experience (desirable)
